The Monroe County Saddle Club was established in 1961 as an equine cooperative club comprised of members, boarders and horse enthusiasts who enjoyed trail riding, contesting, and showing their horses in the local community. The original location was located on the south side of Bloomington on High Street near what is now a roundabout in close proximity to Childs Elementary School. The barn is currently located on Elwren Road west of Bloomington near the Monroe County Airport and Fairgrounds.
